They fog up. They scratch. They dig in behind your ears. And worst of all — they make you look daft.
So most of us take them off. Even when we know the risks.
That's the standard the safety eyewear industry has set. And it's not good enough.
THE FIX
Built by a sparky. For the trade.
I'm Fraser — a qualified electrician from Manchester. After ten years on the tools, I got sick of choosing between looking like a lab tech and going unprotected.
So in October 2023, I launched Trade Shades.
Safety glasses that look like proper sunnies, but meet the highest safety standards. Anti-fog. Anti-scratch. Certified to EN ISO 16321:2022 impact protection. Tested on real sites by real tradespeople — not in a lab.
Late nights, long weekends, every spare pound from overtime shifts went into making them right.
Now they're here.
THE MISSION
Make "Trade Shades" the new word for safety glasses.
Just like people say Hoover instead of vacuum, or Stanley instead of flask — I want every tradesperson in the UK reaching for their Trade Shades before they walk on site.
That means raising the standard. Real quality. Real style. Real respect for the people who actually wear them.
